PATLive employees participate in holiday effort at local women's shelter.
Tallahasse, FL - February 7, 2008 – PATLive, a provider of automated and live phone call management services, matched funds raised by its employee volunteer organization, PATCares, to sponsor a family and two single women as part of the holiday program at Refuge House. The Refuge House program provided assistance to 161 families in 2007.
Refuge House provides shelter and other services to the women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Refuge House Director of Volunteer and Community Education Programs, Patricia Smith, said that a positive energy permeates Refuge House around the holidays. “It gets pretty busy here. There’s a lot of interaction between donors and the people we serve. Everyone gets a big lift."
PATCares raised $850 worth of merchandise through its Thanksgiving feast, self-defense course, and individual cash and gift donations. Presents included educational toys, electronics, clothing, and food. Smith wishes donors could experience the shelter’s atmosphere on Christmas morning. “Christmas morning brings a lot of excitement.” According to Smith it's been a long time since many of these families had a peaceful Christmas. Many of them tell her that this is the best Christmas they've had in years.
